BT has released the new cloud-based platform for its supply chain solution BT Trace, which is claimed to assist organisations in managing their complex global supply chains.
The UK-based telecom firm's supply chain portfolio now is said to comprise cloud services that provide better view into complex supply chains in almost real time and enhance operational efficiency of its clients.
Integrating complex information from the several resource planning and IT systems deployed by global firms and their suppliers, the new service will offer the view of the whole supply chain through a customised web portal, said the company.
BT Global Services CEO Luis Alvarez said billions of dollars are attributed to the cost of an organisations' global supply chain, with boardroom focusing strictly on reducing cost while improving operational efficiency.
"In addition, BT's worldwide infrastructure, service provision, security expertise, and track record of successful system integrations align precisely with the demands of modern supply chain systems," Alvarez said.
"This combination is brought to bear through our strategic focus on global industry sectors, including consumer packaged goods, manufacturing, logistics, pharmaceuticals and retail," added Alvarez.
TNT Express has trialled the new solution by implementing to assist in increasing operational efficiency, enhance customer service and improve reverse logistics.
